Valley League Baseball (2008/5/10)
in
Sports & Recreation
Valley League Baseball plays a 44-game schedule each summer and is funded in part by Major League Baseball. The league features 11 teams with the Fauquier Gators joining the league in 2007. The Valley League name is derived from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, which is nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Allegheny Mountains to the west. There are many former Valley Leaguers now playing in the Major Leagues, but the league stands for more than just great baseball. It is a very community-oriented venture. Each area involves itself with the team by housing players, providing summer jobs, financially supporting the teams, and regularly attending games.

Educational Institutions
Boys' Home Inc. Boys’ Home provides care for young men who currently need a change in environment. Boys’ Home is responsible for the basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter for these young men as well as the responsibility of molding the character of each of our residents. No boy will ever be denied because of his family’s financial circumstance. We offer recreational facilities, a chapel, and an on-campus school that allows boys to catch up academically before entering the public school system. Vocational-technical opportunities are also offered. The 70-acre campus and surrounding Alleghany Highlands give boys a chance to explore—not just the hills, swimming holes and trees—but themselves.
